August is a special month for the Dominican family as the feast of their founder St Dominic is celebrated on the eighth. In honour of this, the cover of Saint Martin Magazine shows a beautiful stained-glass depiction of the saint which can be seen in St Saviour’s Church, in Dublin. On 7 September Blessed Pier Giogio Frassati will be canonized by Pope Leo and to celebrate this special event we have some lovely offers of prayer cards, candles and a framed picture. This “Man of the Eight Beatitudes” as he was described by Pope St John Paul is truly a saint for our time and packed a lot of living into his short and fascinating life.
