Maa Tarani temple development work worth Rs 214 crore to commence
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday reviewed and discussed the Integrated Development Plan of Bhubaneswar and the traffic decongestion plan with an estimated expenditure of Rs 7000 crore.
With Bhubaneswar fast becoming another Bangalore in terms of traffic congestion, the government has drawn up an ambitious plan of elevated corridors, flyovers, Outer Ring Road, widening of existing roads etc.
The meeting discussed the Integrated Development Plan of Bhubaneswar. It was revealed from the discussion that for this, an elevated corridor has been planned from Jayadev Vihar to Nandankanan, construction of Daya West Canal Road from Patia Station Chowk to Suang, widening of Jatni Road from Sundarpada, and construction of 3 flyovers at Kalpana Chowk, Museum and Sishubhavan Chowk and an underpass at AG Chowk.
Work of the parallel road from Institute of Mathematics to Utkal Hospital-Rail Vihar to Ekamra Kanan is also in progress.
Along with this, plans have been made to construct three access roads from Damna to Press Chowk, Kalarahang to Baramunda and Kelucharan Park.
A 64 km inner ring road has also been proposed.
About Rs 7,000 crore will be invested for the entire decongestion plan.
The Chief Minister directed that detailed project reports for all the remaining works be prepared immediately.
Along with this, an Outer Ring Road plan has also been prepared for the expansion of Bhubaneswar.

Awaiting the grand finale
It is interesting for me to observe how conversation topics with my friends have evolved with our age. Before we reached retirement age our discussions focused on women/relationships, travelling to exotic places, our professional activities, children's future, debates about Obama's birthplace, sports, movies etc. In more recent years, the focus has shifted to health issues, social security benefits, reminiscing about life, existence of God, financial planning in old age and so on.
