70 LMT paddy procured so far: Minister Patra

Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Krushna Chandra Patra reviewed various activities of the department including the procurement process and noted that so far 70 lakh metric tons of paddy has been procured from 15.65 lakh farmers during the ongoing kharif season in the State.
Marking International Women's Day with a strong protest, Congress women leaders wore black bands on Saturday to condemn the increasing crimes against women in the state.
Criticizing the BJP-led "double-engine government," OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das said that while the BJP boasts about its Subhadra scheme, the reality is that "Subhadra is unsafe" in the state today.
The event was presided over by former Pradesh Women's Congress president Meenakshi Bahinipati. Addressing the gathering, Das cited alarming incidents of crimes against women and minors across the state. He pointed out that a Class 9 student in an Ashram School in Keonjhar, the Chief Minister's home district, is pregnant, a Class 6 student has faced the same fate, and a Class 10 student in Chitrakonda, Malkangiri, has already become a mother.
