Eric, 76, thanks 'brilliant' medical team as he recovers from collapse that halted game
The Sentinel
|November 13, 2025
A STOKE City fan who collapsed in the stands at the bet365 Stadium is making a good recovery.
Eric Smith fell unwell during the first half as the Potters took on Coventry last weekend. The club's matchday team gave the 76-year-old medical assistance before he was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. The game was temporarily paused at the height of the emergency.
Eric, a Potter since the age of 12, who idolised Sir Stanley Matthews upon his return to the club from Blackpool in the 1960s, has since been recovering at home and hopes to return to the ground soon to cheer on Mark Robins' team.
