INDIA leading manufacturer of elevators and escalators, Johnson Lifts (JLPL), on Monday announced it has acquired a majority stake in Toshiba Johnson Elevators (India) (TJED, up from its earlier 49% stake in the joint venture with Japan-based Toshiba Elevator and Building Systems Corporation.
Without disclosing the increase in stake or fresh capital infusion from the Chennai-based company, the Johnson Lifts management said the acquisition would lead to changes in management and senior personnel on TJEI’s board, though elevators and escalators will continue to be made in Japan and imported i
