Pressure mounts on KZN Premier to act on feeding scheme tender scandal

PRESSURE is mounting on KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli to act on the school feeding scheme tender scandal following new information that the wife of a deputy minister from the province also allegedly benefitted from a contract.
The DA in the province has revealed that a company allegedly belonging to the wife of the Employment and Labour Deputy Minister, Jomo Sibiya, was awarded a tender to supply food items to schools.
The National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP) Service Providers' Association previously alleged that "tender rigging" had taken place and individuals connected to the ANC or the Education MEC Sipho Hlomuka had been awarded contracts.
The association was expected to hold a press briefing yesterday, but it was cancelled.
DA KZN spokesperson on Education Sakhile Mngadi expressed alarm over new revelations allegedly linking Deputy Minister Sibiya to a company which had received a contract.
