Hillary Bowling Club host colourful fund-raiser
The Mercury
|November 13, 2025
ON Saturday, local greens were alive with colour and camaraderie during a successful fundraiser hosted by Hillary Bowling Club to support the PNB Men's Open side as they prepare for the 2026 BSA Inter-districts Championship, taking place from 9-13 March in the Western Province.
A vibrant field of 28 teams took to the greens, each playing three competitive ten-end games in pursuit of prize money sponsored by Avbob Durban Agency. The day not only raised vital funds but also showcased district unity, with support from other PNB sides who will soon be fundraising for their own 2026 campaigns.
It was the women who stole the show, with three members of the PNB Women’s Open Team — Glenda Mathews, Cheryl Mostert and Natalie Botha — securing the top prize of R1 800. Their seamless teamwork was a reminder that knowing your teammates’ strengths remains a recipe for success in any competition. Parkhill’s Chris Coetzer, Jason Butterfield and Shaun Barlow claimed second place.
