CHRIS KAMARA SHARES LIFE-CHANGING REGRET

- By ELAINE BLACKBURNE

TELEVISION personality Chris Kamara has revealed his major regret that led to life-altering repercussions.

The former footballer has shared how he has now “accepted” his future, which was transformed by one mistake.

During an appearance on “See What's Possible” podcast, with Myleene Klass, he described how his world shifted following a diagnosis of speech apraxia a disorder that nearly brought his broadcasting career to an end.

“The condition disrupts communication between the brain and mouth.

Middlesbrough-born former footballer Chris explains: “Basically, the thought process is still there. But when you come to say the words, they’re not there or they either come out wrong and people can’t understand you.”

The symptoms initially emerged during lockdown, with Chris recounting how his wife Anne suspected he'd been drinking despite it being just 11am. He said: “I knew in my mind that something was wrong but obviously being a stupid man, I didn’t want to say anything to her - didn’t want to say anything to anyone. And then it just gets worse and worse.”

When Anne urged him to seek medical attention, he declined, insisting there was “no way” he would sit with a doctor and attempt to explain what was “going on in my head”.
