Supreme Court Grants Interim Protection To Media Outlet Med, Asks Him To Cooperate With Investigation: Telangana Phone Tapping Case

The counsel, Senior Advocate Dama Seshadri Naidu appearing for Kumar requested the court that a notice be issued in the SLP and meanwhile, some interim protection may be given to him.

The Supreme Court in the case Aruvela Shravan Kumar Rao Versus The State Of Telangana observed and has granted interim protection against arrest to Aruvela Shravan Kumar, the Managing Director of a Telugu media outlet in order to allow him to travel from the United States to India for the purpose of investigation.

In the present matter, Aruvela Shravan Kumar, is one of the accused in the illegal phone-tapping operation which is being conducted during the reign of the BRS Government, allegedly against bureaucrats and High Court judges.

The Telangana High Court initiated suo moto proceedings into the illegal phone-tapping operation.

The Telangana High Court considered the present matter, wherein it is stated that the issue involved 'national security' and not just infringement of right to privacy.

The bench comprising of Justice B.V. Nagarathna and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma was hearing the present matter.

The bench in the case was hearing a Special Leave Petition against the order of Telangana High Court, wherein the court denied the anticipatory bail to Kumar through an order passed in March.
