Amid the row over deaths of BLOs in SIR in West Bengal, the Election Commission of India has written letter to DGP West Bengal and Kolkata Police Commissioner to ensure that the BLOs are not pressurised and threatened by the political party workers
The ECI gave point wise rebuttal of all apprehensions and each baseless allegations made by the AITC Delegation in the letter.
The ECI further requested them to give claims and objections after 9 December when the draft list is shared with them. Till then, they should not interfere with the independent functioning of BLOs, EROs and DEOs who are State Government employees on deputation to Election related works.
