AS POSITIVE moments in Newcastle's 3-1 defeat to Brentford go, they were in far too short supply at the Gtech Community Stadium, writes SEAN McCORMICK.

But Harvey Barnes’ piece of individual brilliance to give the Magpies the lead in West London will provide the smallest crumb of comfort for Newcastle supporters to cling on to.
Starting on the left-wing in the absence of Anthony Gordon, Barnes managed to do what the England international winger has failed to do himself so far this season - score a Premier League goal.
Jacob Murphy's low, bouncing, cross into the box found Nick Woltemade, whose clever flick guided the ball in the direction of Barnes.
