SP’s Azam Khan freed from Sitapur Jail, Thanks supporters

Prominent Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan walked out of Sitapur jail on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, after spending nearly two years behind bars. His release marks a significant political development in Uttar Pradesh, where Khan has long been a key figure in state politics. Emerging from jail, Khan expressed his gratitude towards his supporters, telling ANI, “Thanks to everyone. My blessings to all who supported me.”
Azam Khan had been jailed in connection with the Quality Bar land encroachment case. He was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court in May 2025, following a protracted legal battle that saw multiple hearings and appeals. With this release, Khan is free from all pending cases that could have kept him incarcerated, as confirmed by his advocate, Mohammad Khalid. Speaking to ANI, Khalid said, “So, there's no pending case that would keep him in jail. As of today, bail has been granted in all the cases. This process may take two to three days. As of now, there are no other pending cases.”
