HEXHAM residents are staging a unique protest today to show support for Angel of the North artist Sir Antony Gormley's proposals for a former fire station.

Hundreds are expected to turn out to form a human Angel of the North on the town's Sele Hill.
Sir Antony is hoping to buy the fire station site to use as storage for his artwork, with plans to exhibit key pieces.
