It's a new chapter for Amy after opening new bookshop
Shields Gazette
|December 09, 2025
A new bookshop is hoping to spark people's imaginations with a whole host of reads.
The name of the new bookshop is inspired by Souter Lighthouse.
After growing up browsing the shelves of her local library in South Shields, Amy Stonehouse and her partner Steven Lumsdale have opened their own independent bookshop.
Aiming to connect community, creativity, and culture, Electric Beacon Books has opened on Albemarle Street in the town centre.
And one of its first events is hosting an author's afternoon with popular Sunderland writer Glenda Young, who'll be signing copies of her newest cosy crime, Deadly Dancing at the Seaview Hotel, from 2pm to 3pm on Saturday, December 13.
