Jaishankar stresses India-China cooperation to maintain G20 integrity in 'polarised' global situation

Says India-China dialogue continues despite bilateral challenges

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday underscored the collaborative efforts of India and China in safeguarding the integrity of the G20, despite increasing global divisions.

Jaishankar, who is in South Africa for a two-day visit, made these remarks during a bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

“We should recognise that in a polarised global situation, our two countries have worked hard to preserve and protect the G20 as an institution. This in itself testifies to the importance of international cooperation,” Jaishankar stated in his opening remarks.

The meeting comes as South Africa assumes the G20 presidency for 2025, kicking off a year of diplomatic engagements within the influential economic forum.
