India, China pledge to rebuild mutual trust as Rajnath Singh holds talks with Dong Jun

In a significant diplomatic engagement, India and China on Wednesday agreed to develop a roadmap for rebuilding mutual trust and understanding, as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called for learning from the "unfortunate border clashes" of 2020 during talks with his Chinese counterpart, General Dong Jun.

The high-level meeting took place in Vientiane, Laos, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus), weeks after the militaries of both nations completed disengagement from two critical face-off points in eastern Ladakh.
The Indian Defence Ministry underscored the importance of the discussions, stating that both sides committed to measures aimed at fostering trust and cooperation. During the delegation-level talks, Singh emphasised that peaceful relations between the two Asian giants could positively influence global peace and prosperity.
