A 17-year-old student preparing for the National Entrance Eligibility Test-Undergraduate, or NEET-UG, for admission to medical courses was found dead in her room in Kota district of Rajasthan, police said on Sunday, suspecting it to be a case of suicide, making it the 15th such incident in the coaching hub this year.

JAIPUR:

Last year, 20 students preparing for various competitive examinations died by suicide in the district.

Kunadi police station house officer (SHO) Arvind Bharadwaj said that the deceased lived with her parents and brothers in Kunhadi area of Kota. The incident came to light on Saturday night when the student's father found her body in her room.

"At around 10 pm, the girl's father went upstairs to check on her in her room where he saw her body," Bharadwaj said.

The incident took place a day before the girl was set to write the NEET-UG. "The victim was preparing for NEET at a prominent coaching centre in the city. She was also all set to take the exam on Sunday," the SHO said.
