MOHALI:

Middukhera, 36, was shot dead in Sector 71 on August 7, 2021. The shooters fired 15 shots at the victim. According to the investigators, Middukhera's murder by the Bambiha gang members led to the killing of Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022 by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The police claim that one of the absconding accused in the Middukhera murder case, Shaganpreet Singh, had allegedly introduced himself to the shooters as Sidhu Moosewala's accomplice.

The deceased was a native of Middukhera village in Bathinda and was an active student leader of the Student Organisation of India (SOI) at Panjab University, Chandigarh. He was considered close to gangster Bishnoi.

The court of additional district and sessions judge Baljinder Singh Sra on Friday held Anil Kumar alias Lath, Ajay Kumar alias Lefti alias Sunny, and Sajjan Singh, alias Bhollu, all members of the Kaushal-Bambiha gang, guilty.

The court on Monday also imposed a fine of ₹2.5 lakh on each convict. However, due to lack of direct evidence, the court acquitted gangsters Bhupinder Singh, alias Bhuppi Rana, Amit Dagar and Kaushal Chaudhary, who were accused of conspiring the murder.
