Woman injured as gun misfires, loses kidney

BENGALURU: A 32-year-old woman sustained severe internal injuries and lost a kidney after a licensed pistol misfired and struck her at a residence in Ashirvad Colony, near Horamavu, officials said on Wednesday, adding that the woman is being treated ata private hospital and remains unconscious.
Police said the incident occurred on Monday when Rachel, a resident of Cox Town, was visiting the house of her friend Nikhil Nayak. According to initial findings, when Nikhil stepped into the restroom, she allegedly picked up his licensed pistol to examine it. The firearm reportedly discharged accidentally, hit her stomach.
