RANGERS might have sacked Russell Martin but they still needed a late goal from James Tavernier to draw 2-2 draw at home to DUNDEE UNITED.

The Gers were led by interim boss Stevie Smith at Ibrox, with Kevin Muscat thought to be Close to agreeing a deal, but there was no instant fix as they remain stuck on one Premiership win this season.

Things started well with Thelo Aasgaard marking his recall with a 25th-minute opener.

But second-half strikes from Kristijan Trapanovski and Craig Sibbald turned the tables. It took a powerful effort from skipper Tavernier three minutes from time to steal a late point.
