Flanker Curry hails the battling rearguard action that saw England hold on to beat the Auld Enemy and win the Calcutta Cup
DY FLANKER Ben Curry admitted his head was spinning after being at the sharp end of England's frantic backs-tothe-wall Calcutta Cup win over Scotland on Saturday.
Curry, a 37th-minute replacement for Tom Willis, was part of a defensive display that saw Steve Borthwick's side hang on in the match when they should have been blown away.
Stats revealed England completed 206 tackles, missing 35, compared to Scotland's 91, with 10 misses, as the visitors dominated possession but lost the match.
England's system, devised by defence coach Joe El-Abd, was ripped to pieces by Finn Russell, Duhan van der Merwe and co forcing them to scramble making lastditch saves. Curry made 13 tackles in just over half a match, Ben Earl 17 in the 80 minutes and fly-half Fin Smith chopped down 16 opponents.
