SCHEFFLER DOWNPLAYS MAJOR FUTURE GOALS

Cape Times

May 20, 2025

SCOTTIE Scheffler isn’t one to speculate about the significance of a first Major win outside Augusta National or to set lofty goals about future titles. The 28-year-old American clinched his third career Major on Sunday, taking command on the back nine to win the PGA Championship by five strokes at Quail Hollow.

"I felt like this was as hard as I’ve battled for a tournament in my career,” Scheffler said. "This was a pretty challenging week."

Despite the victory, Scheffler maintained his typically grounded approach when asked about future aspirations.

“Not really. I don't focus on that kind of stuff," he said. "I love coming out here and trying to compete and win golf tournaments, and that’s what I'm focused on."

With the US Open at Oakmont and The Open Championship at Royal Portrush on the horizon, Scheffler said he's concentrating only on next week's PGA Tour stop at Colonial.

“After this week, I'm going to go home and get ready for next week's tournament, and the show goes on," he said.
