Fylde hold-off Tigers after fine first-half display

Fylde repelled a spirited second-half performance by Sheffield Tigers to secure a 36-12 win in treacherous conditions at The Woodlands.

With what was a decisive first-half performance, by the 38th minute the hosts led 26-0.

But a 40th-minute try by Tigers' fullback Max Woolgar-Norton gave the visitors a foothold in the game.

But although they troubled Fylde after the break, the home side ultimately prevailed by a comfortable scoreline.

Fylde opened the scoring in the 15th minute as Mike Walton and David Fairbrother combined for centre Sam Stott to finish. Danny Cassidy convertedone of three in the first half.
