Bid to host multi-day music fests at stadium

Regular live music events could be held at Melksham's Oakfield Stadium if Melksham Football and Rugby Club can secure planning permission.

The clubs have submitted plans to hold music events lasting between one and four days, with a build and break phase before and after each event.

The clubs want permission to erect temporary structures including stages, bars and marquees.

They want to host their first live music event - Wiltshire Throwback Festival - on the weekend of June 20 and 21.

It is anticipated that the festival will attract up to 3,000 people each day, with more than 2,500 tickets already sold for each day.

The festival was due to find out yesterday (Wednesday) if it had secured the live music and alcohol licences it needs for the event to proceed.
