PP rejects Pheu Thai's CDA establishment attempt
Bangkok Post
|November 28, 2025
The People's Party (PP) is firmly opposed to Pheu Thai’s attempt to establish a Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA), saying the proposal will add unnecessary steps to the charter amendment process.
Phanida Mongkolsawat, a PP MP for Samut Prakan, said the pros and cons of Pheu Thai’s proposal had been extensively discussed by the charter amendment review committee.
Pheu Thai is pushing for the formation of a CDA, whose members would be directly picked by the public. Out of the 300 names picked by voters, parliament would then select 100 individuals as members of the CDA, who would then choose the members of the Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC), who would be doing the actual drafting of the new charter.
