The Changemakers Issue

We asked our 2025 class of visionaries, leaders, and rule breakers to take the very first MC Changemakers Questionnaire. Their answers reveal how narratives get shifted, how conversations get started—and what we should all be listening to for a little motivation.

The CHANGEMAKERS

Paige Bueckers

The WNBA basketball star and activist is using her spotlight to speak out for gender equity and mental health in sports.

What does being a changemaker mean to you?

Being authentically myself and showing up for the moment. It's about using my platform to stand up for what I believe in, to be fearless, and to never let anyone put me in a box.

What is a rule or norm that you're trying to break?

I'm challenging the idea that there's one way to look, act, or dress as an athlete or a woman. I want to break the stigma around fashion and femininity in sports—to show that you can embrace whatever style feels right to you without being judged.

What is the fight you'll never stop showing up for?

Confidence, equality, and justice—on and off the court. I'll always stand for people being their most confident, authentic selves, regardless of outside opinions.

Do you have a hype song?

“What Did I Miss?” by Drake.

What is your motto?

Stand firm and serve the moment. Be you, be great.

What gets you through the hardest parts of pushing for change?

I try to lead with a caring and genuine heart. I know my intentions are good, and that helps me stay grounded. I don't dwell on mistakes; I treat everything as a lesson in my journey.
