Mary Jo Buttafuoco is reliving the crime that changed her life. In 1992 the Long Island mother of two was shot in the face by her then husband Joey Buttafuoco’s 17-year-old mistress Amy Fisher. Now 70 and still affected by facial paralysis from the shooting, Buttafuoco is sharing her story of hope and survival, narrating Lifetime’s I Am Mary Buttafuoco, airing Jan. 17 at 8 p.m.
Your life story has been told many times. Why this project? I want to show young people that sometimes really bad things happen, and you can get past them.
What do you remember about that day? Everything. It was a normal day. I got the kids dropped off at school. I cleaned. My plan was to paint.
