People tend to think the hair business is easy and glamorous, and assume I can part with stock for free or at an unreasonable discount. There’s also an assumption that by being your own boss, you’ll make money quickly. This is not the case: the money that comes in should be reinvested into the business. I think of my business as my partner – I can’t leach off it.
