Prince Harry wants forgiveness from his family – can an invitation to his brother and a new charm offensive turn things around, asks royal correspondent Emily Andrews

I t’s clear that the Duke of Sussex has changed tactics. Earlier this year he gave that disastrous interview to the BBC, in which he said his father wouldn’t talk to him, questioned how long the King had yet to live, but still seemed to blame him for removing his taxpayer-funded security.

The King was said to be dismayed and Buckingham Palace aides furious that Harry had once again inflicted personal wounds on his family. Now perhaps the stark reality of being a royal has-been is hitting home.

In an apparent olive branch, it’s been suggested that members of his family have been privately invited to the Invictus Games when it's hosted in Birmingham in 2027.

Harry is estranged from both the King, 76, and Prince William, 43, but hopes relations will have thawed enough by then for them to come. A source was reported as saying, 'Invictus hopes the Royal Family will come along to support the wounded veterans taking part.
