Councillor's big bang ban bid fizzles out
Western Morning News (Saturday)
|December 20, 2025
A BID to ban ultra-loud fireworks in parts of South Devon has failed to ignite the support of local councillors.
Members of South Hams District Council debated a motion calling for a big bang ban on the use of fire works hitting more than 80 decibels on its land.
But they were told that the council had received no complaints over loud fireworks, and there were no displays on council land anyway. Big summer displays at Dartmouth, Salcombe and Kingsbridge are fired from the water instead.

THE question occupying many minds - why, by the end of 2026, the UK will have had seven Prime Ministers (possibly more) in a little over 10 years - will remain without an answer as long as journalists persist in seeking one from psephologists, politicians and their fellow hacks and not, as they ought, from anthropologists.
