Mahathir turns to writing on Malaysia's history after shock election loss

In his first comments following his big electoral loss, he said he was saddened by the outcome at the polls, but accepts the people's choice.

Malaysia's former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad announced on Wednesday that he will turn to writing about his country's history, following his defeat in last Saturday's general election.

His Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) lost all the seats it had contested, and for that reason, Tun Dr Mahathir said all its plans for the country "had to be dropped".

The 97-year-old also expressed hope that whoever forms the next government will be able to resolve the country's problems, he said in a Facebook post.
