Karl Eldrew Yulo settled for eighth place in the individual all-around finals yesterday hut vowed to shoot for the stars in the floor exercise finals today in the third FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships at the Marriott Grand Ballroom.

SECOND CHANCE FOR YULO

The 18-year-old Yulo had a 78.731 in the all-around, a significant improvement from his 78.322 in the qualifications Thursday when he made it through in 14th out of the 24 finalists.

For the second time, he shone on the floor exercise, eliciting an impressive 14.300 that was second best behind Russian-born Arsenii Dukhno, who had an astonishing 14.500 that helped him win the gold with an 82.031 total.

Japanese Nao Ojima copped the silver with a 81.799 while Chinese Yang Lanbin scooped the bronze with a 81.099.
