Surrendered Naxals' inputs helped eliminate top leader

SPECIFIC inputs provided by some surrendered Maoists led security forces to track down CPI (Maoist) general secretary Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju and eliminate him along with 26 other Naxalies in Abujhmad forests of Chhattisgarh's Bastar region, said a source privy to developments.
"Most of the Naxalites killed in the intelligence-based operation on Wednesday were bodyguards of supreme commander Basavaraju. They were trained cadres of the Peoples' Liberation Guerrilla Army, the military wing of CPI (Maoists),"" said the source, adding, "The surrendered Maoists who gave the tips to the forces include a gunman who was escorting Basavaraju."
