THE petroleum ministry will seek a relief package from the finance ministry for the losses oil marketing companies (OMCs) incurred on holding petrol and diesel prices in the past eight months, said an official of the oil ministry.
The official further said that India will keep buying Russian oil in future as it is not sanctioned yet.
"We will approach the Finance Ministry to seek compensation for oil companies' losses for the entire year," said the official. Currently, the under-recoveries on petrol and diesel are more than ₹20,000 crore.
