A teenage boy carrying a knife is among several arrests made in twin police nighttime operations in two Kirklees towns.

- By ANDREW DOWDESWELL

West Yorkshire Police confirmed in a statement a 17-year-old was arrested after he was caught with a knife near Dewsbury train station. The boy was one of five people arrested in darker nights operations in Dewsbury and Huddersfield aimed at tackling crime and antisocial behaviour in the city centres.

Officers have also stopped and searched 20 people on suspicion of criminal offences and issued eight fines for breaching Public Space Protection Orders, with alcohol confiscated from several people.
