A MAN found wandering in and out of moving traffic while under the influence has been jailed after he bit an officer who was trying to restrain him.
Robert Walker - one of Plymouth's most prolific offenders appeared at Plymouth Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm towards Insp Andrew Paxman during the early hours of July 12 this year.
He also admitted criminal damage to a cell at Charles Cross police station custody suite. He denied the charge of assaulting an emergency worker, a plea which was accepted by the Crown.
The court heard from prosecutor Michael Brown who noted how police had been called to Chapel Street in Plymouth where they found 50-year-old Walker "intoxicated" with his top off. He began to make "a number of accusations and claims" before walking into oncoming traffic.
