A LISKEARD company is planning to create 200 jobs, after landing a £36 million Government contract.
Wildanet already employs 150 people and will look for people in a range of skilled roles including network design, surveying and partner management plus engineering and head office roles.
There will also be indirect opportunities for local companies such as civil contractors and through the supply chain after Wildanet secured two contracts as part of the Government's nationwide £5 billion Project Gigabit.
The programme was set up to supply hard-to-reach areas with better broadband. It will see up to 19,250 homes and businesses in south-west and mid-Cornwall connected.
Work is set to start imminently surveying rural homes and businesses from Newquay to Fowey, with building work to connect those in need to the fastest broadband on the market set to begin as early as this summer.
