Whilst their Northern League counterparts have been granted an extension to the current season, due to fixture backlogs, there has been no such goodwill from Southern League officials, despite many clubs still having plenty of games to cram in before now and the season’s expected end date of April 27.
Tavi’s midweek clash with Bristol Manor Farm was their latest casualty as Wednesday’s rainfall left Langsford Park in no fit state meaning the game has to be played on Thursday.
Tavistock will now end the season by playing six games in two weeks starting at home against Evesham United tomorrow. And with injuries hitting the squad as well, Henderson openly admits he is struggling to field a team, let alone fill a bench.
But just who is the winner here? In normal circumstances, this should be an exciting end to the season for Tavistock, who are in with a shout of the play-offs. But like many other clubs, they are more concerned about getting their games played and avoiding further punishment after being given zero help from the governing bodies.
