A NEW dedicated children’s surgical unit has begun treating patients at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital, as one of only two such specialist facilities in the country.
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP) said the new dedicated unit has three operating theatres, a dedicated entrance and dropoff area for children and young people, an admission area, including spaces for children with additional needs, and a large stage recovery area so that children can be discharged home directly without needing to be admitted into the main hospital.
