Festival-goers left ‘stranded’ in heavy traffic
The Chester Chronicle
|June 04, 2026
CHESHIRE West and Chester Council said it is ‘deeply concerned’ following reports that people attending a festival held in Tattenhall struggled to get home once the event had finished - with some people claiming it took them three hours to leave the site grounds.
On Saturday, the No Art Open Air festival - led by electronic duo ANOTR - took place at the historic Bolesworth Castle. The dance event featured performances from the likes of Marco Carola, Max Dean, Toman, Benja and Silvie Loto across two main stage areas.
But following the conclusion of the event at 11pm, fans struggled to leave the rural site with long queues of traffic forming.
Videos on social media also showed fans scrambling to get onto coaches, with reports alleging that people were refused entry on board due to the demand.
There were also claims that people were ‘stranded for hours in the middle of nowhere’, with tired fans also alleged to have been sleeping on the roadside due to the long waits.
Some social clips also claimed a number of fans had even attempted to walk home on the motorway. One fan said they felt there was ‘more time spent in traffic than in the festival!’
One parent also blasted organisers on social media for the ‘poorly managed’ event, describing it as ‘Mayhem, dangerous, disorganised and wholly unacceptable’.
