MAN CITY STAR HAILS BOB MARLEY'S DAUGHTER FOR SAVING REGGAE GIRLZ
MANCHESTER CITY striker Bunny Shaw loves listening to reggae as part of her pre-match routine.
And that is fitting, bearing in mind the role that Bob Marley's daughter played in saving the women's game in Jamaica.
Shaw might have still made it to the WSL, thanks to her talent for putting the ball in the net.
But she is quick to acknowledge the influence that Grammy-winning songstress Cedella Marley had in making sure that the Caribbean island had a national team.
A lack of funding meant the Jamaican women's squad was disbanded in 2008 - at about the same time Shaw was kicking a ball about on the rutted pitches of Spanish Town with her brother Kentardo.
In stepped Cedella with money and support from her late father's foundation and the Reggae Girlz duly qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 2019, with Shaw leading the attack.
