Fans' delight as Wallace invention brought to life
Somerset Guardian
|May 15, 2025
If Wallace and Gromit are known for anything, it's their wacky inventions.
The beloved duo have created everything from a Knit-O-Matic to a rocket.
But now, thanks to one creative man, one of their inventions has been brought to life, and it's none other than the breakfast machine, used by Wallace in the 1993 film The Wrong Trousers.
YouTuber and kinetic artist Joseph Herscher, aka @josephmachines, has recently gone viral on TikTok after posting a video of himself using the iconic machine, racking up over 75 million views.
In the film, Wallace pulls down a lever, which sees the bed he's sleeping in rotate vertically, dropping him into a pair of trousers, and then into his chair at the breakfast table.
The machine then puts on Wallace's sleeves and vest, with his dog Gromit then pressing a red button, which catapults jam onto a slice of toast that is ejected from the toaster, before landing on Wallace's plate.
It’s an impressive invention that many of us dreamed about having as children, but it all seemed too far-fetched for reality, but not to Joseph.
