Green belt Travellers' pitches can go ahead

APPEAL OVERTURNS COUNCIL'S INITIAL REJECTION OF THE PLANS
PLANS for Travellers' pitches on green belt land near a Nottingham-shire village have been approved following an appeal to government.
Space will be created for two new caravans and the keeping of horses off Mansfield Road in Papplewick.
Gedling Borough Council (GBC) had rejected the proposals, stating it would be "inappropriate development within the green belt" and "detrimental to its openness".
However, applicant Green Planning Studio was successful in its subsequent appeal, with a government-appointed inspector ruling it could go-ahead due to a lack of designated Traveller pitches in the borough.
