Every time I walk on to high street, I can't wait to leave again
Nottingham Post

As a reporter, a lot of my stories have taken me to Long Eaton, on the Derbyshire-Nottinghamshire border.
I have covered numerous stories there, ranging from renovations and shop openings to crimes and police cordons.
Recently, I found myself heading down the A52 again to speak to business owners and staff about their opinions on a planned High Street revamp.
The area has received numerous financial boosts recently, and a lot of initiatives aim to improve the town - knocking down a derelict cinema and cracking down on scruffy shopfronts among them.
I thought that all sounded fairly positive but, upon parking my car and walking on to the high street, I found my thoughts resonating with those of shopkeepers and the (very few) shoppers: perhaps it's too little, too late.
