Alexis Karran, 49, died on November 6 at Salford Royal Hospital.
An inquest into her death was opened yesterday at South Manchester Coroners' Court in Stockport.
The hearing was told she was born in the Isle of Man and was a radiographer by occupation.
Police coroners' officer Alison Catlow said Ms Karran lived on Winchester Road, Dukinfield, and was the 'life partner' of 48-year-old illustrator Daniel Mitchell.
