Legendary Chinese restaurant is set to reopen its doors

ONE of the owners of Manchester’s Yang Sing restaurant has revealed plans for the future of the business a year after closing its doors.

Currently, the building on Princess Street is being used as a temporary space for an indoor Christmas fair whilst renovations and development continue.

Yang Sing was first opened in 1977 by the Yeung family and quickly became a go-to destination for Mancunians and visitors to the city centre. What began as a small family affair grew into a venture which set the standard for Chinese restaurants in Manchester and beyond, welcoming guests including Sir Alex Ferguson and David Cameron.

The building underwent a £250,000 refurbishment in 2017 but in February 2021 a fire broke out in the basement kitchen, resulting in a number of repairs and in December 2021 the restaurants owners decided to close.

Speaking to the M.E.N, Bonnie Yeung, co-owner and daughter of co-founder Harry Yeung, explained that the family had been taking its time to bring the business back.
