SALES cheer at trainers giant Nike today put a spring in the step of JD Sports Fashion shares at the end of a bruising year for the FTSE 100-listed retailer.
Nike's shares jumped 13% after last night's Wall Street closing bell, having reported a 17% surge in second-quarter revenues as the world's largest sportswear business made better-than-expected progress with clearing excess inventory.
With Nike's earnings ahead of forecasts and athleisure spending appearing to be more resilient than previously thought, there was a positive read-across for JD shares.
