Back-to-back wins and clean sheet are huge pluses for new manager Danny

- SCOTT MCDERMOTT AT EASTER ROAD

AFTER 24 attempts Rangers finally kept the back door shut away from home.

And last night's victory over Hibs at Easter Road could prove to be a huge step forward for Danny Rohl's side.

Gers haven't kept a clean sheet on the road since December 8 last year.

But they produced a gritty, gutsy performance in Leith to secure a vital three points in the Premiership.

Brazilian striker Danilo grabbed the crucial winning goal after just five minutes with a brilliant low finish from the edge of the box.

Hibs put them under pressure in the second half, with Thibaut Klidje missing a gilt-edged chance. David Gray's side thought they had earned themselves a point near the end when Junior Hoilett won a penalty after Connor Barron's trip.

But Rangers keeper Jack Butland produced a stunning save to deny Jamie McGrath and keep their clean sheet intact.

Rohl took the acclaim of the away support at the end after two wins in a row took them up to third place in the table.

ARE RANGERS BACK?

It's still very early days in Rohl's tenure as Rangers boss but the early signs are good under the German.

It's only been two league games but the two victories he's picked up have been absolutely vital - especially this one.

And it sets them up brilliantly for a semifinal at Hampden against Celtic on Sunday.

It's not just the results against Kilmarnock and Hibs that have been impressive under Rohl, it's the manner of them.

And the tactics he's deployed to get them.
