COPS PAY £8M IN COMPO TO OWN OFFICERS

Alarm at discrimination claims cost

CASH-STRAPPED Police Scotland has paid more than £8million in the last 10 years in compensation to staff, the Daily Record can reveal.

Figures released through a freedom of information request show the force paid £5,346,128 to settle 102 claims, including discrimination, unfair dismissal and harassment, brought since 2017.

A further £3,276,663 was paid on 60 gagging orders or nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) associated with the settlements.

Last year, PC Denise Gemmell got more than £43,000 after a tribunal ruled she had been victimised.
