Charles, 75, who had taken time off to recover after a cancer diagnosis, was delighted to meet staff and families of the 3 Royal School of Military Engineering yesterday.
He was greeted at the training base for the Army's Royal Engineers in Surrey with a quarter guard salute.
Charles assumed the role of Colonel-in-Chief in March last year.
